Mastering the implementation and management of Six Sigma based on ISO 13053


Summary

This five-day intensive course enables participants to develop the necessary expertise to support an organization in implementing and managing a Six Sigma project based on ISO 13053:2011. Participants will also gain a thorough understanding of best practices used to implement DMAIC methodology based on requirements of ISO 13053. The Six Sigma training is consistent with the project management practices established in ISO 10006 (Quality Management Systems - Guidelines for Quality Management in Projects). This training is fully compatible with ISO 13053-2 (Quantitative methods in process improvement – Six Sigma – Part 2: Tools and techniques).

Day 1: Introduction to ISO 13053 and initiation of a Six Sigma project

  • Introduction to Six Sigma and the process approach
  • Normative frameworks and methodologies related to Six Sigma
  • Fundamental principles of Six Sigma
  • Quantitative Methods in Process Improvement (QMPI)
  • Understanding the recommendations of ISO 13053 clause by clause

Day 2: Define and Measure phase of Six Sigma projects

  • Six Sigma infrastructure within an organization
  • Six Sigma personnel, their roles, and training requirements
  • Six Sigma process mapping and tracking
  • Creation of data collection plan
  • Implementation of data collection plan

Day 3: Analysis and Improvement according to Six Sigma

  • Data analysis in a Six Sigma project  
  • Process analysis in a Six Sigma project
  • Cause and effect analysis
  • Six Sigma project prioritization and selection  
  • Generating, selecting, and implementing solutions

Day 4: Six Sigma control, continuous improvement and audit

  • Controlling and monitoring a Six Sigma project
  • ISO 13053 Internal Audit
  • Tools and techniques used for Six Sigma according to 13053-2
  • Preparing for an ISO 13053 audit           

Day 5: Certification Exam


Prerequisites

ISO 13053 Foundation Certification or a basic knowledge of ISO 13053 or Six Sigma is recommended


Educational approach

  • This training is based on both theory and practice:
  • Sessions of lectures illustrated with examples based on real cases
  • Practical exercises based on a full case study including  role playing and oral presentations
  • Review exercises to assist the exam preparation
  • Practice test similar to the certification exam
  • Benefit from the practical exercises, the number of training participants is limited


Examination and Certification

  • The “PECB Certified ISO 13053 Lead Implementer” exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). The exam covers the following competence domains:
  • Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of Six Sigma
  • Domain 2: Six Sigma best practice based on ISO 13053
  • Domain 3: Six Sigma define phase based on ISO 13053
  • Domain 4: Six Sigma measure phase based on ISO 13053
  • Domain 5: Six Sigma analyze phase based on ISO 13053
  • Domain 6: Six Sigma process improvements based on ISO 13053
  • Domain 7: Six Sigma process control based on ISO 13053
  • Domain8: Preparing for a Six Sigma audit

  • The “PECB Certified ISO 13053 Lead Implementer” exam is available in different languages (the complete list of languages can be found in the examination application form)
  • Duration: 3 hours

  • After successfully completing the exam, participants can apply for the credentials of PECB Certified ISO 13053 Provisional Implementer, PECB Certified ISO 13053 Implementer or PECB Certified ISO 13053 Lead Implementer, depending on their level of experience
  • A certificate will be issued to participants who successfully passed the exam and comply with all the other requirements related to the selected credential

General Information

  • Exam and certification fees are included in the training price
  • A student manual containing over 450 pages of information and practical examples will be distributed to participants
  • A participation certificate of 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits will be issued to participants
  • In case of failure of the exam, participants are allowed to retake the exam for free under certain conditions
